Panasonic is hoping to make a large splash in the small pond of 3D cameras with the Lumix DMC-3D1, which sports two 12.1-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch sensors behind 25mm optical zoom lenses capable of 4x zoom. For 3D aficionados, the 3D1 is capable of 8-megapixel 3D photos and 1920 x 1080 60i 3D HD video. Perhaps in a nod to the fact that there aren't that many 3D aficionados out there, Panasonic is also taking advantage of the dual-lenses to enable the ability to shoot 12-megapixel stills and 1920x1080i HD video at the same time with each lens able to separately zoom in on a scene.
Other specs include 8 fps consecutive shots sans autofocus or 4 fps with autofocus, a 3.5-inch touchscreen with touch autofocus, and Panasonic's "Venus Engine," which should utilize the camera's quad-CPU setup for faster image processing and better battery life.
